Final storyboards for Through Sprengisandur, unfinished film about an old man, lost in the black sands of Sprengisandur with an odd-looking bag, while his reality shifts and he is not as innocent as he seems.
Although there has been a script written, I wanted a slight ambiguity for interpretation. I decided to show introduce elements accordingly towards that goal. I also tried my hands to show the style changes and "reality breaks" through storyboarding. Photoshop CC 2019.
Animatic available on Youtube.

Storyboard development for Kompania! a historical slice-of-life about six people of different backgrounds surviving 1040s Byzantium via banter, friendship and music.
Niekko (small-framed, short hair) owns a fruit stand to gather some money to survive the big city, while his friends join him for help. Meanwhile Agop (tall, straight nose, long black hair) is aching about his crush Theodosia, his boss' daughter who also has a stall in the Forum. It's the first day in the Forum and already off to a great start.
To try my hands on boarding slice-of-life with a humorous twist, I decided to improvise the script while having the "punchline scene" in mind (the banging lute) to develop the scene organically. Markos' dance was based on traditional Greek dances, mostly Pentozali for having a fast pace and solo parts. Photoshop CC 2019.

Storyboard development and style frames for Ponyo: Visual Essay an animated collaboration based on the "making of" Ponyo On The Cliff By The Sea, directed by Hayao Miyazaki.
My part was based on the quote by Supervising Animator Katsuya Kondo, on colour used in the film (slightly reworded and cut for relevance and time) “There is a trend. Many current animated films tend to extract colours or use monotones and subdued hues. We elected not to use a quiet palette but more vivid colours.” I later designed a simple sequence inspired by the underwater life present in the film. I wanted the storyboards to also work as style frames and colour tests for the sequence.
Markers and pencils; Photoshop CC 2019.
